Afren plc ('Afren' or 'the Company') announces that on 9th October 2007 it issued and allotted, conditional to admission, 5,600,000 Ordinary Shares of 1p each, pursuant to an exercise of options. The shares will rank pari passu with the existing ordinary shares of 1p each in the Company. Application for admission has been made for the shares, which is expected to be effective on 15th October 2007. Following the share issue, the Company's outstanding issued share capital will be 273,006,563 shares.
