Social Policy

It is our Policy to:

  • Behave ethically and strive to improve the quality of life of our workforce and host communities. 
  • Respect host communities, their traditional rights and value their cultural heritage.
  • In pursuit of this Policy when embarking on new developments and operating facilities we will apply a systematic approach and in doing so shall:
  • Define the processes, methodologies and criteria necessary to achieve this policy.
  • Identify stakeholders internal and external to the Company and define the characteristics of each.
  • Screen, via a Social Impact Assessment, the social risks and issues over all phases of the operation and record the outcome. 
  • Establish a plan to manage social risks and issues over the lifetime of the operation.
  • Minimise social and other impacts (e.g. demographic, host community, wealth distribution)
  • Build and maintain relationships with host communities, key individuals and organisations in order to engage in consultation, communication and ensure mutual expectations are realistic and achievable.
  • Comply with legal requirements for local and National content and strive to further maximise this.
  • Monitor social impact management and commitments and take any necessary corrective action.
  • Investigate and manage grievances that may be raised by host communities
  • Carry out periodic audits and assessments of social risks and issues as part of the continuous improvement process.
